 St. Joseph’s Hospital

Special Procedures Area Nurse 3/2011-Present.  Managed care of patients before and after heart catheterizations, image-guided biopsies, and interventional radiological procedures.  Performs moderate sedation for patients during cardioversion and transesophageal echocardiograms.  Recovers patients after procedures using extensive assessment and monitoring skills.


 Intravenous Therapy Nurse 9/2009-3/2011  Managed care of outpatient infusion patients.  Started difficult IVs throughout the hospital with use of ultrasound throughout the departments of the hospital.  Certified and competent PICC nurse.  Worked with autonomy to contribute productivity in department.  Taught educational IV and central line maintenance courses to student groups. 

 

Altruistix Nursing Services

Home Health Care Nurse.  6/2009 – 3/2010.  Managed care of several patients with new diagnoses requiring intravenous infusion therapies or central line infusions.  Provided wound care and skilled nursing visits to patients recently discharged from the acute care setting.  Contacted physicians for orders and followed protocol per physician orders.  Maintained detailed charting and patient histories in compliance with mandates.  Explained procedures and educated patients on newly diagnosed conditions and treatments.  Sought care through the interdisciplinary team when necessary.  Provided intravenous antibiotics, methylprednisone, factor viii replacement, immunoglobulin treatments, blood products and other infusions as ordered. 

 

Mayo Clinic Hospital

 Cardiovascular Progressive Care/Telemetry Unit, 8/2007 - Present

Served as a staff nurse on a 36 bed unit working with a multidisciplinary team to formulate and administer treatment plans, administer medications, IV’s, evaluate outcomes, interpret diagnostic data, resuscitate patients, and document care in computerized charting. Educated patient and family about treatments and provisions. Provided support, education and facilitation for patients to meet goals. Utilized assessment, communication, leadership, and critical thinking skills while acting in a flexible, adaptive and self-motivated manner; willing to accept a variety of patient care assignments.  Worked as a staff nurse on a 20+ telemetry monitored floor.  Planned care for four to five patients.  Monitored arrhythmias and provided interventions for patients with acute and chronic disease processes.  Worked with social workers, ancillary staff, and patient’s families to coordinate care based on patient’s needs.

 

Phoenix Children’s Hospital, Pediatric Intensive Care Unit, 2/2007-4/2007

Worked as a new graduate nurse in the critical care environment.  Managed care of 1-2 acutely ill children.  Monitored and provided care for patients.  Worked as a member of the integrated health team and developed a skill set necessary to care for a very specialized patient population.
